The Heart of Humidity Control

The Air Dehydration Unit (ADU) is the key component to controlling your Relative Humidity issues. The ADU delivers dry air to provide for a stable relative humidity (RH) environment. A cocoon of conditioned air protects in and around critical systems, components, products, and processes.

Our engineered, controlled and monitored environment reduces or altogether eliminates problems associated with moisture-induced corrosion, rot, mold and mildew, and fluctuations in batch process yields and quality.

In occupied spaces, ADUs can provide more comfortable and hygienic environments, while reducing energy costs when compared to the energy consumption of traditional HVAC driven moisture control methods.

Logis-Tech offers a complete line of Desiccant and Refrigerant Dehumidifiers with capacities from 30 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) to over 40,000 SCFM. Models are available from Commercial to Military grade with numerous power, air distribution, and mounting options. Post-cooling and pre-cooling options are available to deliver the proper RH and Temperature across all climatic conditions to meet your demanding requirements.

Desiccant
Dehumidifiers

Desiccant dehumidifiers thrive in cooler temperatures and excel when low relative humidity and dew points are required. These units can operate in sub-freezing environments. Units have a normal operating range of -40°F to 120°F.

Desiccant dehumidification requires a desiccant media, airflow and heat to reactivate (purge moisture from the desiccant). A typical setup involves a desiccant wheel or desiccant rotor that slowly spins within a sealed chassis. The wheel is segmented into two non-equal parts usually around a 75%-25% ratio. Moisture-laden air is pulled through the larger portion of the rotor where the desiccant material absorbs the moisture and the conditioned air exits warmer and dryer and is distributed as process air.

A heated air stream is pulled in the opposite direction through the other 25% of the wheel. The hot air causes the desiccant wheel to release its captured moisture and is generally vented to the outdoors as warm, wet reactivation air. (Heat exchangers can be adopted for greater efficiency in the reactivation process)

As the process inlet air temperature increases, reactivation efficiency is lost.

Refrigerant
Dehumidifiers

Refrigerant dehumidifiers thrive in warm, humid conditions.

A refrigerant dehumidifier is basically an optimized air conditioner. The goal is no longer to cool the air but use the process to remove moisture.

Air is passed across a cold evaporator coil where the lower temperature causes condensation to occur. This water is either captured in a tank or plumbed away.

The cold air is then passed across a hot condenser coil and the air becomes warmer and drier.

As the incoming air becomes dryer the dew point (the point where condensation occurs) becomes lower and requires the evaporator coils to become colder. When the coil drops lower than freezing the moisture freezes to the coils, which then require defrosting. Refrigerate dehumidifier operating range is normally 56°F – 95°F.

Integrated Air Dehumidifiers

So, if a desiccant dehumidifier works well in warm to cold environments and can drive dew points low…

and…

A refrigerant dehumidifier works well at warm to hot temperatures…

What to do in areas that are hot and humid in the summer and cold and wet in the winter?

Integrated air dehumidification!

These units leverage the best of both technologies. Depending on the manufacturer it may be a Desiccant with pre and/or post refrigerant cooling built-in or as options.

Small

Small Dehumidifiers

Under 400 SCFM

Dehumidifiers under 400 SCFM are generally lightweight and portable and can be used to dehumidify rooms, small green houses, interior of civilian and military vehicles, interior of aircraft, storage containers or just about any small storage area that needs protection for stored material from corrosion, mold, mildew and moisture damage. Bug infestation can also be eliminated with a low RH environment. These dehumidifiers can usually dehumidify areas from 500 square feet up to 4,000 square feet with a normal ceiling height of 10 feet; however, dehumidifier effectiveness in controlling space RH conditions is contingent on how well the controlled space is sealed from the outside. Desiccant or refrigerate based models have power requirements from 120VAC/1Phase/50-60Hz to 460VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz depending on what site electrical power is available and what style dehumidifier you choose for your climatic RH and temperature conditions. Normally dehumidifiers in this size range will be offered in desiccant or refrigerate models.

Medium

Medium Dehumidifiers

401 SCFM to 999 SFM

Dehumidifiers in this range are generally stationary but can be portable using wheels or trailers and lifting handles and can used to dehumidify medium size rooms or green houses, interior of civilian and military vehicles, interior of medium size aircraft, series of storage containers or just about any medium size storage area that needs protection for stored material from corrosion, mold, mildew and moisture damage. These units can usually dehumidify areas from 4,000 square feet up to 10,000 square feet with a normal ceiling height of 10 feet; however, dehumidifier effectiveness in controlling space RH conditions is contingent on how well the controlled space is sealed from the outside. Bug infestation can also be eliminated with a low RH environment. Desiccant and refrigerate based models have power requirements from 220VAC/1Phase/50-60Hz to 460VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz with electric or gas regeneration depending on what site utilities are available and what style dehumidifier you choose for your climatic RH and temperature conditions. Normally dehumidifiers in this size range will be offered in desiccant or refrigerate models.

Large

Large Dehumidifiers

1,000 SCFM to 3,999 SCFM

Dehumidifiers in this range are generally stationary and can used to dehumidify large storage areas, warehouses, large green houses, interior of large aircraft, series of storage containers or just about any large size storage area that needs protection for stored material from corrosion, mold, mildew and moisture damage. These units can usually dehumidify areas from 10,000 square feet up to 39, 900 square feet with a normal ceiling height of 10 feet; however, dehumidifier effectiveness in controlling space RH conditions is contingent on how well the controlled space is sealed from the outside. Bug infestation can also be eliminated with a low RH environment. Desiccant and refrigerate based models have power requirements from 220VAC/1Phase, 208- 230/3Phase/50-60Hz to 460VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz with electric or gas regeneration depending on what site utilities are available and what style dehumidifier you choose for your climatic RH and temperature conditions. Normally dehumidifiers in this size range will be offered in desiccant models; however, refrigerate models are available in the lower range of 1,000 to 1500 SCFM.

Extra-Large

XL Dehumidifiers

4,000 SCFM and up

Dehumidifiers in this range are generally stationary and can used to dehumidify extra-large storage areas, warehouses, and greenhouses, or just about any extra-large size storage area that needs protection for stored material from corrosion, mold, mildew and moisture damage. These units can usually dehumidify areas from 40,000 square feet and up with a normal ceiling height of 10 feet; however, dehumidifier effectiveness in controlling space RH conditions is contingent on how well the controlled space is sealed from the outside. Bug infestation can also be eliminated with a low RH environment. Desiccant model power requirement is from 208-230VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz to 460VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz. Some of the larger units are only offered in 460VAC/3Phase/50-60Hz due to the significant electrical load at 208-230VAC and will be normally only be offered with gas generation. Dehumidifiers in this size range are only offered in desiccant models.
